Pediatric Eye Care in Maple Glen

We care for children starting at age 5, offering age-appropriate exams, prescriptions, and ongoing support as they grow. Whether it’s your child’s first eye exam or a return visit, we keep the experience calm, clear, and reassuring.

Children Need Regular Eye Exams, Too

Children’s vision can change rapidly, especially during their early school years. At Maple Glen Eyecare, we offer pediatric eye exams that go beyond a basic vision check, assessing tracking, depth perception, and signs of common issues like myopia or astigmatism. If your child needs glasses, we will help them find a comfortable fit. If they’re interested in contacts, we will walk them through the process.

Managing Nearsightedness in School-Age Kids

We offer evidence-based treatments to help slow the progression of childhood myopia (nearsightedness). This includes options like ortho-k lenses worn overnight and MiSight® soft contacts, both of which can reduce the need for stronger prescriptions.

Myopia control works best when started early, especially if your child is squinting, struggling to see the board, or has a family history of nearsightedness.

We Make Eye Exams Comfortable for Kids (& Parents)

We adjust the exam process based on your child’s age and attention span. Most pediatric visits include:

  • Vision and refraction testing
  • Eye alignment and movement checks
  • Depth perception and binocular vision screening
  • Evaluation for early signs of eye conditions
  • Prescription updates, if needed

Our goal is to make sure your child sees clearly and feels at ease throughout the appointment. We will provide explanations along the way and save enough time for any questions you might have.

When to Schedule Your Child's Next Eye Exam

We recommend a full eye exam every year for school-age children, even if they don’t complain about their vision.

Some problems, like focusing problems or eye strain, can be easy to miss without a thorough check.

If your child already wears glasses or contacts, more frequent visits may be helpful to monitor prescription changes or comfort.
