I&R  (contact  lens  teach)

I&R (Insert & Remove) Appointment: Learn to Safely Handle Your Contact Lenses

Starting with contact lenses? Our I&R (Insert & Remove) appointment is a crucial part of the process, designed to help you confidently and safely handle your lenses. This one-hour appointment will teach you how to insert and remove your lenses correctly, reducing the risk of irritation or infection. You must do this appointment if you are new to wearing contacts or if has been a while since wearing them. We cannot dispense contacts and/or give you a contact lens prescription to leave with unless you attend this appointment.

what  to  expect:

A contact lens teach (I&R) is approximately one hour long and includes personalized guidance from one of our trained opticians. During the session, you’ll learn the correct techniques for handling your lenses, from insertion to removal, and how to properly care for them. This education ensures that you feel confident and comfortable with your new lenses.
Once you’ve successfully inserted and removed your contacts under supervision, you'll meet with the provider that you usually see for a quick check. We do this to be sure that everything is looking great and fitting properly before you leave our office.

To make sure everything is going smoothly, we then schedule a follow-up appointment for around a week later, which lasts about 15 minutes. This is to ensure your eyes are continuing to adapt to the lenses and that no discomfort or irritation is occurring. We want to make sure you’re 100% comfortable before finalizing your prescription.

Cost  and  inclusions:

The appointment costs $150 in total. While insurance does not cover the cost, this one-time fee covers everything you need to get started with contacts. Here's what’s included:
  • One Hour Initial Appointment for the Teach - Personalized guidance on inserting, removing, and caring for your contact lenses. A quick check with the doctor to ensure the lenses are fitting properly and everything feels right.
  • A Beginner's Care Kit - Contact lens trials of varying brands, contact lens solution, and anything else you might need to get you started.
  • Follow-up Check - A 15 minute appointment with the doctor to make sure that you are feeling comfortable and happy with your contact lenses. Tweaks can and will be made during this appointment if something isn't feeling right, so make sure you tell the doctor anything that's concerning you!
  • Finalized Contact Lens Prescription - Once everything is confirmed to be working perfectly, you’ll receive your finalized prescription so you can order your lenses with confidence.
With this comprehensive service, we make sure you're fully equipped for a successful and comfortable contact lens experience!
